The Love Zimbabwe Under 18 Finals concluded today at Zimbabwe Grounds, and what a spectacle it was! Twenty-four teams from across Harare competed for the prestigious trophy, but in the end, it was a battle for Chitungwiza pride.
The final pitted two Chitungwiza powerhouses, Ramah and Ruponeso, against each other. After a hard-fought match that saw neither team able to break the deadlock in regulation time, the game went to a nail-biting penalty shootout.
In a dramatic finish, Ruponeso academy held their nerve and emerged victorious with a 5-4 win on penalties! A huge congratulations to Ruponeso for their triumph and to Ramah for a fantastic performance as worthy finalists.
We’d also like to extend a special congratulations to the individual award winners:
Dexter Pedzisai of Ruponeso Academy for being named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Your outstanding saves and command of the goal were crucial to your team’s success.
Johna Rutsito of Ramah for earning the Player of the Tournament award. Your remarkable performance and impact on every game were a joy to watch.
The results of this final truly underscore the dominance of Chitungwiza in youth football. It’s a testament to the dedication of the academies, coaches, and young players and the league putting in the work to develop the next generation of football stars.
