The Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex is a prominent sports and recreational facility located in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. Built in 1995 for the All-Africa Games, it was originally designed to host swimming competitions and water sports events.
The complex features an Olympic-sized swimming pool and other amenities that made it one of the premier aquatic centers in the country.
Despite its state-of-the-art design, the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex has faced challenges over the years, including neglect and lack of maintenance.
However, efforts have been made to revive and repurpose the facility. In recent years, the complex has become a hub for community events, sports activities, and even cultural programs.
The Ministry of Sports, Arts & Recreation has also initiated partnerships, such as with Jibilika, a youth empowerment organization, to provide a space for creative programs and youth development at the complex. Today, it serves as both a sports venue and a community center, contributing to the social and cultural landscape of Chitungwiza.
