Chitungwiza’s budding tennis stars have made their mark, returning home with a haul of medals from the recent Harare Provincial Junior Tennis Tournament held at Harare Sport Club

The young athletes from Chitungwiza Tennis Club displayed exceptional skill and determination, proving their prowess on the court.

The club’s dominance was particularly evident in the Under-12 age group, where they achieved a clean sweep, claiming all three coveted medals. Mufaro Sibanda emerged victorious, securing the gold medal, while Tutsirai Maruta took home the silver, and Waishe Chinyemba earned the bronze. Nicky Muzenda further solidified the club’s strength by securing a commendable fourth position in the same category.

Overall, Chitungwiza Tennis Club players brought home an impressive seven medals: one gold, four silver, and two bronze.

Other notable achievements included:

  • Divine Mashanda: Silver medal in the Red ball age group (6 and under).
  • Wenyasha Maruta: Bronze medal in the Orange ball age group (8 and under).
  • Inati Chinyemba: Silver medal in the Under-14 Girls category.

The success of these young players is a testament to the dedication and hard work of both the athletes and their coach, Tawonga Gweje.

Based at the Chitungwiza Tennis Courts in Unit D, Gweje has been instrumental in nurturing the talent of these rising stars.
