Sporting Braga of Unit O emerged as the champions of the Chitungwiza Junior Football Development League Under-12 tournament, triumphing over a competitive field of 22 teams.

The final, held on Saturday at Chibuku Stadium, saw Sporting Braga defeat Dynasty 3-0 in a tense penalty shootout after the match ended in a goalless draw.

​The tournament showcased the bright future of Zimbabwean football, with young talents battling it out for the top honors. The event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of LM Auctioneers, Sportsnet, Utano Luisa Enterprises, Brigma Investment, and Scotland midfielder Tichaona Chipunza.

​Sporting Braga’s victory was a testament to their exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the competition.

In the end, they took home the main trophy, gold medals, and a full team kit. Dynasty secured the second-place spot, earning silver medals and a full kit, while Marisa finished in third place, receiving bronze medals and training bibs for their determined performance.

​The individual awards highlighted some of the standout players and coaches from the day’s events:

​Best Coach: Coach Hukuimwe from Sporting Braga was honored with a shield for guiding his team to victory.

​Best Player: Benjamin Dirwayi of Sporting Braga was named the tournament’s best player, receiving a shield, $100, and three pairs of soccer boots.

​Best Goalkeeper: Tafadzwa Kapumha, also from Sporting Braga, was recognized for his outstanding saves and awarded a shield and $50.

​Top Goal Scorer: Micah Maya from Marisa received a shield and $20 for his five goals throughout the tournament.

​Best Midfielder: Kieth Chisora of Marisa was awarded a shield and $20.

​Best Defender: Tinashe Kusena from Dynasty was recognized for his strong defensive efforts and received a shield and $20.

​All eight teams that made it to the final stage of the tournament received two soccer balls each, ensuring the development of these young athletes continues long after the final whistle.

The tournament successfully brought together the best under-12 talent in the league, with the final eight teams delivering a thrilling day of football for fans and families.
