In an electrifying finale to the year, the Chitungwiza Junior Football Development League held its highly anticipated Champions of Champions Tournament on December 14, 2024.

The event drew a vibrant crowd and created a carnival atmosphere, with supporters passionately cheering for their favorite teams throughout the day.

With a series of thrilling matches, the tournament showcased the incredible talent budding within the junior football ranks of Chitungwiza

Marisa triumphed over Excellence with a resounding 4 nil victory in the Under 11 category. In the Under 13 age group FNF secured an impressive 3 Nil win against MC99. The Frost Dzangare coached Ramah demonstrated their strength by defeating Ruponeso with a convincing scoreline of 5 Nil in the Under 15 age group. In a tightly contested match, CSPRO coached by Former Caps United Forward Massert Zengeni emerged victorious, beating EL Deep15 with a score of 2 1 in the Under 17 category.

Mika Baya (Marisa), Simbarashe Dera ( MC99), Peace Chikukwa (Ramah) and Takudzwa Dorkani (CSPRO) emerged as a standout showcasing remarkable skill that left the crowd in awe

The tournament also celebrated women’s football, with a nail-biting final between King Junior Queens and Frankton Ladies .After a hard-fought match that ended in a 0 -0 draw, King Junior Queens edged out their opponents 4-2 on penalties, showcasing the competitive spirit and skill of young female athletes.

The event delighted players and fans and was honored by the presence of former Dynamos and Black Aces player Patrick Mangava, who served as the Guest of Honour. Mangava expressed his admiration for the abundance of talent displayed throughout the tournament, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young players in the community.

This year’s Champions of Champions Tournament not only highlighted the exciting prospects of junior football in Chitungwiza but also fostered community spirit and encouraged local youths to pursue their passions on the field as well as shunning drug and substance abuse.
