Our My ChiTown Magazine reporter had the pleasure of chatting with the talented Garikai Tabo Marongwe (GTM), a gifted photographer and visual artist from Unit G-Extension. Using his creative eye, Garikai captures beautiful moments and expresses his love for photography and art. A passionate dreamer, he shares his journey and aspirations with us, hoping his story inspires others.
MCM: What inspired your desire to start photography?
GTM: I’ve always had a love for visual arts. I also draw, and my artwork is featured on @tabom_art. Photography was something I started a few years ago when I needed a break from drawing. I fell in love with it instantly.
MCM: Do you think you can build a successful career from ChiTown?
GTM: Yes, I believe it’s possible to start a great career from ChiTown, although it will be challenging and requires a lot of dedication and hard work.
MCM: What’s the one thing you love about ChiTown?
GTM: For me, it’s the energy that people here have, especially when it comes to the creative arts. I’ve met so many inspiring creatives who call Chitungwiza home.
MCM: What would you tell someone from your neighborhood who is thinking about starting their photography career?
GTM: I’d tell them to go for it and have as much fun as they can. It’s so much easier when you truly enjoy what you’re doing.
MCM: What’s your favorite camera right now? And which one are you aiming to get?
GTM: My current favorite is the Canon M50. But I’m really aiming to get my hands on the Canon EOS R6.
Garikai’s love for photography continues to grow, and we’re excited to see where his journey takes him next!
