Chitungwiza Mayor, Her Worship Councillor Rosaria Mangoma, expressed the council’s aspirations for the town to become a water authority during the Strategic Plan Review Meeting. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the need for teamwork and resilience, despite the numerous challenges faced by the local authority. “Despite the challenges, we must continue to work hard—and work as a team,” Mayor Mangoma said.

The town’s service delivery remains hampered by a lack of funds and its dependence on external water sources. The mayor urged ratepayers to settle their bills promptly, as this would enable the council to finance its operations and improve services. Echoing her sentiments, Madam Chari, the Chitungwiza Desk Officer for the Ministry of Local Government, called for the establishment of robust revenue collection systems to boost financial sustainability.
